What is Neurofeedback?

What does a typical neurofeedback session look like?

When your session begins, you will get comfortable wherever it is comfortable to you. This might be sitting at a desk so you can work on the computer, sitting in a recliner so you can relax, or sitting on the floor so you can meditate. Wherever is most comfortable for you is where we want you to be.

Once you are comfortable, five sensors are attached to you with conductive paste. You will have two sensors on your scalp, one on your left ear, and two on your right ear. If you want to wear headphones, you can bring your own or wear the ones we have. You do not have to wear headphones.

Next, we will hit play. You will remain where you are for the session. I will walk out of the room but close enough for you to text me and I will be back quickly. I might stay in the room, but I encourage you to relax and enjoy the session.

Once the session is complete, I will take off all the sensors (please let me do this) and hand you a wipe to clean off any additional conductive paste that is on your ears or scalp.

How many sessions of neurofeedback does it take to feel results?

Every brain is different….

There is not a good answer for this. Your brain is different then my brain and because of that, your brain is going to respond in a different way than mine. We encourage you to do however many sessions you want to do.

My hope is that you enjoy the process of training your brain to be better – flexible and resilient.

Can you take medication while doing neurofeedback?

Yes, you can take medication.

NeurOptimal® neurofeedback is a wellness tool, not a treatments. Your treatments for anything medical need to be discussed with your doctor.

Are there any negative side-effects of neurofeedback?

Training your brain with NeurOptimal® has no known or unwanted side-effects.

Is neurofeedback safe?

Yes, it is!

We do not put anything into your body nor do we take anything out. We are not pushing your brain or body to do anything.

NeurOptimal® does not train states of consciousness. It does not do anything to influence any outcome. Instead it is up to your brain to use the mathematical information it receives, or to not use that information. For this reason NeurOptimal® is an extraordinarily safe tool for self-optimization.

How long do the benefits of neurofeedback last? Is it permanent?

It is a learned process, like learning to read, we can’t take that away from you once you know it. Yes, the benefits last. When you decide you are done training your brain, you might never come back. You also might come back in a few months, a year, or a few years later. Your brain is always learning from your experiences and you might decide you could benefit from more sessions after you thought you were finished.
